There’s no denying that the world has been rocked on its side by some incredible technological advances that have drastically altered how we live and work. Cellular phones have evolved from bulky handsets in carry bags to sleek devices that do practically everything. In 2017, 46 percent of surveyed Americans said they use digital voice assistants such as Google Home or Amazon Echo, with 56.3 million more smart speakers predicted to ship in 2018. In manufacturing and business, we’re at a point of unprecedented automation. Machines have taken over a vast number of tasks, including those once thought undoable by machine.

The telecommunications market is highly saturated. In most of the developed world, nearly everyone who wants a mobile phone has one. There are opportunities for carriers to increase service usage or upsell customers on higher-value devices or services, but each new account generally comes at a competitor’s expense—so customer retention is crucial. Telecom service providers need to reduce losses, prevent churn and maximise revenue on their offerings. FICO’s Best Next Action™ technology can be an important tool to achieve all of these objectives, either by presenting new offer terms or cross-selling other products and accessories to enhance the customer’s telecommunications experience—the handset upgrade, better financing terms, insurance on the handset or a subscription service for content. o Prevent account churn o Optimise service utilisation o Segment accounts o Tailor the contact method to the account

We are now in a world of Unified Communications (UC) and your employees are using many devices and modalities to communicate. A phone is still needed, but its use as a “stand-alone” device is changing as end users now have a wider range of communications options afforded by UC including chat, video, and communications on a phone or mobile devices (BYOD). As IM becomes the new dial tone (“U there?”, “Is now a good time to talk”), when your users want to talk, they expect to be able to place their phone call from their UC client. For most companies today, that UC client is Microsoft® Lync®. While the user may want to place their phone call from Lync, they also want to be able to use a telephone dial pad to dial numbers, access features with convenient feature keys, and be able to choose between using a handset, headset, or speakerphone—and they want to use their phones in ways that are fully integrated with their Lync client.

Though IP telephony has been available commercially since the mid ‘90s, it remains an emerging technology for many organizations. Only about 28% of companies have moved all endpoints (handsets, softphones, audio bridges) to IP, according to Nemertes’ research data. The rest of organizations are either in the process of migrating fully to IP, stuck in a hybrid rollout requiring them to manage typically multiple TDM and IP providers, or firmly planted in TDM. This report reviews the issues and benefits associated with moving to an all-IP environment, based on interviews with IT professionals who have moved to all IP or are in the process of doing so.

Millions of  handsets are sold around the world daily. Handsets are by far the preferred platform of communication there is.  People spend more time using their mobile phones than any other device or gadget, and they pay special attention to everything stored in those handsets. In a few words:  If brands want to have a presence in their consumers’ environment, and if they want their message to be heard and seen, then they imperatively need to put some value content on users mobile phones. Mobile marketing is typically understood as SMS Marketing, which is managed from a distant point and it impacts the user at random times.
